Chasing Trees is about trees, and more

Chasingtrees.net is an effort to spark interest in, and knowledge and appreciation of, things many tend to neglect. Many know when they see a tree, but how many can identify one knowing its nature, usefulness and history? Many know basic math, but how many are aware that seemingly impossible math feats are possible using easily-learned math tricks?  Many know something of God, and this can give a sense of meaning/no meaning and purpose/no purpose to life and death, but how many can with assurance cut through all the religious bs we have been fed, to know the truth? If Chasingtrees.net makes people think and see life on a richer level, it has served its purpose.

The trees identified and discussed to date were observed in the Georgia Piedmont area near Atlanta, Georgia. Most were found in the 1,200 acre natural environment of Youth Villages’ Inner Harbour campus near Douglasville, Georgia. In 42 years (until retirement) of working at this facility,  I have seen youth enjoy and benefit from outdoor therapeutic activities such as ropes course initiatives, horseback riding, hiking, canoeing, fishing, and more. But it is easy to observe that simply being in the outdoors does not guarantee connection to nature. The value of chasingtrees.net is how it calls attention to things (like trees) that are usually neglected, forging connections that enrich the experience of life.

The idea for Chasingtrees.net developed after seeing the interest generated by another website I formed on math shortcuts. After seeing both a college math teacher and a stage magician demonstrating it could be done, I could not rest until I found what I knew was there. This information is now more conveniently combined into the Chasingtrees site, to make it more convenient for others with the same interest to find.

The section on Christian faith was included after I battled to find a faith with solid foundation. I found no denomination whose teachings appeared truthful and coherent. If God’s message is important enough to be given as intended, why is there so much intentional error and pagan doctrine mixed in? I found through personal prayer and study of scriptures, using a concordance and other aides, that God will open doors and reveal “daily bread” that satisfies. Many cracks in our faith foundation are examined.

Through chasingtrees.net, I share the accumulated knowledge and experience I have with things I have chased in my life.  The domain name extension was chosen because things are often chased with a net, and it is fun to remember. The site is rapidly growing, and in the year 2023 alone views have totaled more than 30,000 from 130 countries. I hope your use of this site leaves you blessed!

  1. Candice, I’d start with a good Bible and a Strongs’s concordance. While studying, look up difficult to understand words in the original Hebrew or Greek. It is amazing how translations of words have thrown us off. God will lead you to what he wants you to know. You have an exciting adventure ahead!

  2. Thank you Selina. Like your parents, I warn you to be careful of online garbage and waste of time. Guard your mind carefully, we have only one life to get it right!

  4. I’m impressed, I have to admit. Rarely do I come across a blog that’s both educative and engaging, and without a doubt, you have hit the nail on the head. The problem is something that too few men and women are speaking intelligently about. Now i’m very happy that I found this during my search for something relating to this.

  5. You could definitely see your enthusiasm within the work you write. The sector hopes for even more passionate writers such as you who aren’t afraid to mention how they believe. At all times follow your heart.
