Squaring three-digit numbers having 0 in the tens place

 

 

Ex.1  (403)2 = _____        Ex.2  (506)2 = _____

 

Square the hundreds digit for the first numbers of the answer.

Ex.1  (403)2 = 16____        Ex.2  (506)2 = 25____

 

Multiply the hundreds digit times the ones digit and double for the middle two digits of the answer.

Ex.1  (403)2 = 1624__        Ex.2  (506)2 = 2560__

 

Square the ones digit for the last 2 digits of the answer.

Ex.1  (403)2 = 162409        Ex.2  (506)2 = 256036
